Inspiration

Our teammate Eyad received a box of fragrances. Ranging over 30 bottles each with its own distinct accords. We wondered to ourselves, what if we could mix these fragrances just like the professional perfumers all at the click of a button? That is when we decided to work on NeuroScent, a perfume mixing application that takes in the users distinct features, to create one ultimate fragrance mixture representing their identity.

What it does

The users will fill in details about what their scent should have (i.e. the time of day they wish to wear it, the longevity of the scent, a unique identity that they wish to imbue the scent with, and many more). This is done via its gamified system where the users will never have a dull moment filling out our questionnaire. Once they're done, our application will run the inputs through our state-of-the-art recommendation system, enhanced by LLM customized mixtures of the perfumes, we can create the perfect scent that fits the user's unique persona.

How we built it

We built this application using a NextJS powered frontend, and a Python Flask backend. Our application also makes use of Google Gemini API to generate perfume mixtures tailored to each users' unique traits and requirements.

Challenges we ran into

As we are inexperienced with frontend design, we struggled in finding the perfect design that we wanted for our project. In the end, due to the time constraint we settled with a dark luxury themed application with dynamic UIs and interactive features provided by agentic AI models.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

While several platforms offer custom perfume blending, our system transcends traditional mixing by introducing an immersive, gamified experience that makes scent discovery both interactive and rewarding.

What we learned

We learned how to use many new technologies, such as Cursor, OpenRouter and NextJS.

What's next for NeuroScent

We plan to improve NeuroScent's range of perfumes to encompass every scent in the world. This is so that everyone will have a chance to create their scent and also be able to get it made for them at a cheap price.
