Inspiration

We noticed that taking notes is easy, but actually doing something with those notes is where things get difficult. Information gets scattered across notes, tasks, and different apps. We wanted to build something that could turn that scattered information into a more focused and useful workflow.

What it does

NeuroNotes is an AI-powered productivity and note-taking app that helps users capture, organize, understand, and turn their notes into actionable tasks all in one simple workspace. Instead of treating notes as just stored information, NeuroNotes helps users work with them and turn ideas into action.

How we built it

NeuroNotes was built with a modern full-stack architecture.

Frontend: React Backend: FastAPI Database & Authentication: Supabase AI: AI-powered features integrated into the application

We focused on creating a clean, simple interface while connecting the AI capabilities with the user's notes and productivity workflow.

Challenges we ran into

One of our biggest challenges was connecting multiple parts of the application into one smooth experience. We had to handle authentication, database operations, frontend and backend communication, AI integration, and environment configuration while making sure everything worked together reliably. Another challenge was designing the experience so that AI features felt useful rather than simply being added for the sake of using AI.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of turning an idea into a working end-to-end application. We successfully connected the frontend, backend, database, authentication, and AI functionality into a single product. We're also proud of creating an interface that keeps the experience focused instead of overwhelming users with too many features. Most importantly, NeuroNotes helped us explore how AI can be integrated into an everyday workflow in a practical way.

What we learned

We learned that building an application is about much more than writing code. We learned how important it is to design the user experience around a real problem, connect different technologies together, manage environment variables and authentication securely, and continuously test the entire system rather than treating each feature separately. We also learned that a good AI feature should solve a real user problem—not just exist because it uses AI.

What's next for NeuroNotes

We want to take NeuroNotes further by making its AI capabilities more personalized and useful over time. Future improvements could include smarter note organization, better task generation, deeper personalization, improved search and knowledge retrieval, and additional tools that help users move from “I need to remember this” to “I know what to do next.”
