Inspiration

Students frequently face overwhelming assignments, multiple deadlines, and increasing academic pressure. For many learners, especially those with ADHD, autism, or executive-function challenges, knowing where to begin can be one of the biggest obstacles to success.

We were inspired by the mission of the Youth Code x AI hackathon to use artificial intelligence for meaningful social impact. We wanted to create a solution that helps students feel more confident, organized, and in control of their academic responsibilities. NeuroNav AI was born from the idea that every student deserves support in turning overwhelming tasks into manageable actions.

What it does

NeuroNav AI is an AI-powered task planning assistant that helps students break down large assignments into smaller, achievable steps.

Users enter a task, deadline, and available study time. The AI then generates a personalized roadmap that includes:

Step-by-step task breakdowns Daily action plans Estimated completion times Progress tracking Motivational guidance

The platform is designed to reduce stress, improve organization, and help students build momentum toward completing their goals.

How we built it

We built NeuroNav AI using modern web technologies and artificial intelligence. The frontend provides a clean and intuitive interface where students can enter assignment details and track their progress.

The AI engine analyzes user input and generates realistic, manageable task schedules tailored to each student's timeline and workload. We focused heavily on creating a user-friendly experience that emphasizes clarity, accessibility, and simplicity.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was ensuring that the AI generated practical and achievable plans rather than overwhelming users with too many tasks.

Another challenge was designing a workflow that remained simple enough for students to use quickly while still providing meaningful guidance and structure. Balancing functionality with a calming user experience required multiple iterations and refinements.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Developed an AI-powered planning assistant focused on student success. Created personalized study roadmaps from simple user inputs. Designed an intuitive and accessible user experience. Built a solution that supports students who struggle with organization and task management. Demonstrated how AI can be used to improve well-being and productivity in education.

What we learned

This project taught us that productivity is not only about efficiency but also about reducing the barriers that prevent people from getting started.

We learned how AI can be used to provide personalized support and guidance while maintaining a positive and encouraging user experience. We also gained valuable experience in prompt engineering, user-centered design, and rapid prototyping.

What's next for NeuroNav AI

We plan to expand NeuroNav AI with additional features, including:

Calendar and timetable integration Voice-based assistance Gamified rewards and achievements Personalized learning recommendations Mobile application support Enhanced accessibility features for neurodiverse learners

Our long-term vision is to create an AI-powered academic companion that helps students navigate their educational journey with confidence, focus, and less stress.

Project Update: NeuroNav AI is Live on GitLab!

We have some exciting news to share regarding the evolution of NeuroNav AI! We have officially transitioned our source code repository and project tracking over to GitLab to give hackathon judges and our community a completely transparent, open-source look at our development architecture.

Our workspace is fully configured, and our development pipeline is moving fast. Here is a look at what we've locked in:

Latest Evolution & Code Baseline

Our core focus has been minimizing cognitive friction for users experiencing task paralysis or emotional overwhelm. We've established a clean, lightweight Git architecture to track every micro-feature moving forward.

For the developers following our journey, here is a quick look at the initialization baseline we just pushed to production to ensure our branch tracking is clean and scalable:

bash

Production baseline tracking initialization git remote set-url origin https://gitlab.com/m.dewhe/neuronav.git git push -u origin main

Watch the Live Walkthrough!

We just wrapped up recording an in-depth video walkthrough demonstrating how NeuroNav instantly deconstructs massive, overwhelming objectives into highly visual, low-friction micro-steps complete with completion tracking indicators, adaptive emojis, and interactive visual time-stamps.

What's Next?

We are currently optimizing our custom interface sliders to better customize AI output configuration depths based on real-time user focus levels.
