Project Summary: How many of you have heard or said, “I’m sick of dating apps”? That frustration is exactly what NeuRomance seeks to solve. Traditional dating apps leave up to 90% of users feeling burned out and dissatisfied. Why? Because hobbies and interests aren’t strong predictors of meaningful compatibility. What people crave is authentic connection—without the noise, mismatches, and wasted time. NeuRomance takes a bold, science-backed approach: we measure brainwave synchronization to predict romantic compatibility. Studies reveal that synchronized brain activity is a key indicator of trust, connection, and long-term relationship success—more so than shared interests or questionnaires. Romantic partners show even greater synchronicity than close friends. Here’s how it works: Using Muse2 devices, we collect EEG data as users listen to emotionally engaging videos. Our advanced neuroscience-based algorithm, enhanced by techniques from analytical chemistry, calculates compatibility scores by analyzing brainwave synchronicity. This process is rigorous, and far more predictive than current dating apps. Our next steps include refining the algorithm by gathering real-world EEG data while adhering to strict ethical standards. As our dataset grows, we’ll employ machine learning to identify neural signatures linked to successful, long-lasting relationships. This iterative process will create a continuously improving, hyper-personalized matching experience. Neuromance isn’t just a dating app. We're using science to bring people closer together in an increasingly individualistic and digital world.
