What is Llama School?

Llama school aims to help both teachers and students by providing targeted tutoring for each individual student and helping teachers address common gaps in knowledge by keeping track of student performance.

Why did we build Llama School?

Traditional education is generalized, putting the burden on teachers to address students' individual needs. Many students learn in different ways and struggle with different concepts from one another, and teachers do not have enough time to accommodate every student. Furthermore, students in underprivileged communities may not have access to the most advanced learning resources or reliable internet access. Llama School aims to bridge the gap by providing accessible, reliable, and targeted mentoring.

How Llama School works

On the teacher application of Llama School, teachers are able to upload a course curriculum for Llama to generate a concept map. This concept map will be replicated to each student that joins the course, allowing their local model to keep track of their progress in the class.

Each student has their own companion model that runs offline on their personal devices, enabling the model to be tailored to each student while protecting their privacy. The student interfaces with Llama School through a series of live lessons and quizzes. During quizzes, Llama School tests the student on the important concepts within each topic, and marks the strengths and weaknesses of the student.

When students come to school, their progress is aggregated to the teacher's interface, allowing a Llama School model on the teaching interface to analyze common gaps in knowledge and generate class material and lecture slides to help facilitate discussion in class. Teachers are also able to view each student's progress to be able to provide guidance for those who need it most.

Why Llama and On-Device AI is a good fit for Llama School

Llama can run on local devices with low latency, enabling Llama School to support students with live tutoring sessions. Running locally ensures student privacy, and does not require a internet access, allowing students in underprivileged communities to use it even if they do not have reliable internet access.
