Inspiration
Our joint passion for motorsport as well as the evergrowing relevance and advancements in AI spurred us to bridge the two worlds into a singular application for learning and depicting AI. We aimed to ignite the same excitement and curiosity in others, revealing the potential of AI not just in racing, but in predictive analytics, decision-making, and real-time strategy adaptations.
What it does
Neural Drift is more than just a game; an educational journey which shows the user the various aspects of creating AI, presenting its history, explaining its core principles, and showcasing its power in a high-stakes, octane fueled racing experience. We allow user to immerse themselves in interactive modules, witness AI-driven cars adapting to racetracks, and compare different AI models on the same circuit under identical conditions.
How we built it
When deciding upon languages and framework we had an abundance of possible choices. However, we ended up harnessing the robust capabilities of the C# langauge as part of the Unity game framework, where we programmed and implemented an advanced neural network framework within a dynamic racing simulator. We held racing & the educational aspect of the program at the forefront, allowing for a dynamic and unique experience for the user.
Challenges we ran into
Embarking on this ambitious project as a duo, we confronted hurdles of various forms and at various time, from aligning AI algorithms with the physics of racing to crafting an intuitive user interface that showcases information and concepts in an intuitive manner. Of course being a smaller group we faced issues with having to take a larger burden of this immense project and unfortunately time was not on our side and neither was luck but with one man down in the early hours of the next day we had been able to produce a project that although not finished utilised complex CNN genetic AIs
Accomplishments that we're proud of
As a duo we are immensely proud of conceptualising and delivering a platform where entertainment meets education. We have transformed the abstract foreign AI methods in actual tangible applications. Neural Drift stands as a testament to the synergy between machine learning and game development. Overall, I am proud of the challenge we undertook and with what we have achieved.
What we learned
Throughout this journey, we have gained a deeper understanding of AI's capabilities and its integration into user-centric applications. We have also enhanced our skills in game development, UI/UX design, and the intricate task of managing resources. Each challenge refined our problem-solving skills and our ability to work under pressure under a dynamic and everchanging environment too!
