Problem

Engineers at Network Rail and other companies suffer from spending too much time looking for information. One particular problem area is searching through standards of which there are more than 10k.

Solution

Our team has developed a Voice Assistant app that extracts the information needed in a conversation with the user and provides best match standard name, reference and accountable department. Moreover, it sends out an email with the link to the standard to download as well as 2 other closely related standards. To ensure that the data on standards and standards themselves are reviewed, the data used from the report sent will allow the customer to know which standards are accessed the most and which are not used at all or very little. Having this information allows the client to make an informed decision over which standards should be reviewed, updated or even deleted. In the report, the customer is asked to rate the standard for further information of how useful the standard is in reality and allow to report it if it for example has inaccurate information.

Result

We believe this idea will bring at least £500k a year to Network Rail in time savings across the engineering workforce and could have further commercial opportunities for roll-out across other companies and industries.
