Inspiration
We were inspired by our own experiences in college. Without an orchestra, a band, or a group, it is very hard to find the motivation to keep practicing music. Our hope is that with the NAM server, we can connect musicians across campus and make some music together.
How we built it
Using discord's built in bot functions, we were able to program a bot and have it interact with users to provide sheet music by using the IMSLP:API by keyword, composer, or name of the piece.
Challenges we ran into
One of the functions that we wanted our bot to do was create a text channel. However, there is unclear documentation of how to go about this. While researching, we found that the ways we were trying to make the bot create the channel were out of date. We also ran into the challenges caused by the pandemic as one of our developers is working while isolating and showing symptoms of Covid-19
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are very proud of getting the API to work and we are very proud that we challenged ourselves to participate in this Hackathon.
What we learned
We learned how to use: discord bots, commands, and API's all in the past 24 hours.
