The purpose of this project is to give an overview of the systems management and monitoring process that includes different tools and techniques.
It provides information that allow us to: View important systems management information. Allow us to make decisions based on this information to make sure the network is running at its best. And to know how things are interacted with each other.
The big challenge for maintaining a network is to allow for consistent availability. For maintaining the availability and many other dependent factors we have to look for the right Operating Systems that have sufficient support for the dependent libraries and then tuning it for best performance.
Yet there are many applications and systems that offers the main functionality but the thing is of its usage and customization of its functionality to make it work with our own environment. This is what that I did with most important open source network monitoring applications and achieve the results to monitor our IT infrastructures.
Working on the Network Monitoring Systems is big deal and a best practice to learn and grow with an eagle eye on the whole infrastructure whether its an alarm for the critical service on any application, high disk space utilization or any abnormal condition on the running servers. So by doing this project I aware and have sufficient knowledge of each device and the running applications whether they are in my domain or not.
As networking becomes more complex network management and monitoring has continued to evolve. Beside moving towards the high price network monitoring solutions we can build our own monitoring solutions with little efforts and team work using Open Source applications by integrated APIs and creating our customized templates.
