Inspiration
The idea of NetUs was taken inspiration from Linktree and how it allowed users to share everything about themselves in a single link. We wanted to take it a step further and create an entire website filled with user info cards. This would allow users to make an account and create these sections to meet new people. They could share their social media accounts, and information about themselves, connect with other users, search for users, and so much more!
What it does
Users can sign up for an account to start creating their own profiles. On their profile tab, they can change their profile picture, edit their "about me" section, or even import their own personal website from Figma into the website. Users can also search for other users on the explore tab and send connection requests. Once 2 users are connected, they can view each other's cards in the connection tab.
How we built it
We used HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to create the website's framework, responsive web pages, and overall style. We also used Figma to create logos and designs to use on our website. We utilized Java Servlets and MySQL to create a database to store the users' information and verify their information.
Challenges we ran into
We had trouble coordinating git changes to the GitHub repo at first, but over time, we got used to pushing changes in a coordinated way. Another challenge we ran into was connecting the input from the user to the backend through MySQL as we were unfamiliar with MySQL.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the website's overall design and look. We accomplished a lot in a short amount of time to create a platform where memorable connections can be made.
What we learned
HTML, CSS, JavaScript, MySQL, Figma, Web design
What's next for NetUs
Add more customizability for users like adding their own personal videos, and photo galleries. Create a help section, and a faq section to ease users into the website. Add a notification system that notifies users if they have received a connection request
