Modern network and server monitoring solutions are often bloated, overly complex, and resource-heavy—making them frustrating to deploy for small-to-medium teams, home labs, or independent developers. We wanted to build a clean, high-performance, and lightweight tool that gives system administrators immediate visibility into their server infrastructure without the setup headaches or steep learning curves.
NetPulse is a proactive network and server monitoring platform that continuously tracks the availability, response latency, and operational health of critical infrastructure.
It automatically dispatches background ICMP Pings and HTTP/HTTPS requests to target endpoints at user-configured intervals.
It records all status events, downtime occurrences, and response metrics directly into a structured SQL Server database.
It features an intuitive, real-time dashboard that instantly flags offline systems or latency spikes, allowing engineers to catch bottlenecks before they impact users.
Backend & Core Engine: Developed using C# (.NET), leveraging multi-threaded and asynchronous (async/await) programming to perform simultaneous network checks without blocking the application interface.
Database & Persistence: Utilized Microsoft SQL Server to maintain persistent historical logs, track uptime percentages, and store device profiles securely.
Networking Integration: Built on native .NET libraries including System.Net.NetworkInformation.Ping for raw connectivity metrics and HttpClient for web service availability validation.
