We believe that quarantine should not stop you from going out and connecting with others or seeking true love. So, what's better than a social networking web app that allows you to make friends and find romantic interests from the comforts of your own couch?

What it does

Upon registering for the web app, the user is asked to install our Google extension. The extension will track and store the user's Netflix activities and geographical location and store them in Firebase where a sophisticated algorithm will sort through the data to find the best matches for you! The matches are then visible to you on the web app where you can see the potential candidates and decide for yourself who you want to enjoy a good movie with -- platonic or romantic.

How I built it

The web app was built using HTML, CSS, and javascript in combination with Firebase. The Google extension was built using javascript and the data was stored into Firestore. The matching algorithm was built using python.

Challenges I ran into

The biggest challenge we ran into was figuring out how to use Firebase's authentication function in order to allow our users to set up accounts that can track their personal information.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Having had no prior experience with Firebase or creating Google extensions, to be able to do both while successfully creating a web app is something we are extremely proud of and would take away with us from this exciting hackathon.

What I learned

We learned how to use Firebase to store data for each individual user as well as create a google extension.

What's next for Netflix-n-Chill

We belive that Netflix-n-Chill has the potential to be more than just a match-making app and we look forward to delivering services such as planning the perfect date night for you!
