Family members want to work together on creating and maintaining a private family tree. Traditional tools to manage team data include exchanging GEDCOM files and a lot of time in auto merging or file comparing. The amount of effort involved often precluded people from working together.
NetFam Collaboration allows a team of researchers to work on a single database which records their changes so that all parties can see what the others are contributing to the effort, from distributed computers anywhere in the world.
One team member initially creates the database, then others are added to the team. Any team member can lock the file while making changes. The changes are then distributed to other team members as they work with the file later. All team members are kept up-to-date with the most recent changes, and are able to view a log of recent activity on the file.
The need to exchange data via GEDCOM is eliminated, as is the need to compare files and records. NetFam Collaboration makes working together as a team a breeze.
NetFam Collaboration is a sub-feature of Ancestral Quest. All team members must be on a Windows based PC, and have a copy of Ancestral Quest to work with the file. They then also have all the tools of Ancestral Quest to edit the data, print charts and reports, and sync data with FamilySearch Family Tree.
