Inspiration

Our inspiration came from our parents and a lot of adults, who own a variety of rental properties in a lot of different areas. They complained a lot about how tedious and annoying it is to find someone to come to a rental property for maintenance, especially one that is both cheap and high quality.

What it does

NestFix increases the efficiency for both the tenet, owner, and tradesperson whenever it comes to rental/airbnb home maintenance. It uses google business APIs to find people close to the house, like plumbers for example, that will make the maintenance process a lot quicker. It also has a dashboard that shows the health rating of your home, a map showing service people nearby, an AI chatbot to help you as fast as possible, and even a chat center so you can communicate with renters and the maintenance people.

How we built it

We used javascript for both the frontend and the backend, but on the frontend we used both shadcn and tailwind components to make it look more visually appealing. We also used the Google Business Profile API to find nearby businesses, and see their ratings and availability. Finally, we use Claude API keys to provide recommendations, especially in our AI Chatbot found at the bottom right of the screen.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into a challenge when incorporating the Google Business Profile API, as it was very hard to get our stuff to work. We ended up consolidating our goals slightly, and just debugging until we got it right. Claude also helped us ;)

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are very proud of how we all came together to create our first real product, as we had never done a hackathon before. Overall, the fact that we were able to all be working simultaneously in the same repo just felt very relieving.

What we learned

We learned how to use API keys like the Google and Claude ones as we had never done that before and it was a very big learning curve, but now I feel very confident whenever it comes to building future apps and websties.
