Inspiration
As four international students navigating the challenges of securing housing from 8,000 miles away, we experienced firsthand the hurdles of finding safe, reliable, and authentic living spaces. Our shared struggles inspired the birth of NestQuest—a mission-driven project to simplify and enhance the off-campus housing search for students like us.
What it does
NestQuest is an innovative platform designed to alleviate the stress and uncertainty associated with finding off-campus housing. It provides a user-friendly interface that aggregates authentic listings, prioritizing safety and transparency. Through features like interactive AI, personalized profiles, and accepting only .edu profiles with verification on our platform NestQuest empowers students to discover and secure their ideal living arrangements.
How we built it
Frontend:
Utilized TypeScript and Next.js for a scalable and maintainable frontend. Implemented a responsive and intuitive user interface using Tailwind CSS. Backend:
Integrated MongoDB with Prisma for efficient data storage and retrieval. Utilized serverless architecture for scalability and cost-effectiveness. AI Integration:
Incorporated OpenAI for intelligent features, such as natural language processing for property descriptions and user interactions. Real-time Communication:
Employed Pusher for real-time updates, enhancing user engagement and interaction. Media Handling:
Integrated Cloudinary for seamless image uploads and optimization.
