Inspiration
We noticed that many students struggle with communication skills during interviews and presentations, even when they understand the subject well. Most learning platforms focus on academic knowledge but ignore how students express their ideas. We wanted to build an AI system that helps students improve communication through practice and feedback.
What it does
Nervo is an AI communication coach that simulates real interview conversations and analyzes user responses using natural language processing. It gives feedback on clarity, structure, relevance, and tone, helping students improve how they communicate in real-world situations like interviews and presentations.
How we built it
We built Nervo using a conversational AI system powered by NLP techniques. The system processes user input, understands intent and meaning, and evaluates responses using semantic analysis and sentiment detection. The backend handles conversation flow and feedback scoring, while the frontend provides an interactive chat interface
Challenges we ran into
Making the feedback meaningful and not too generic was challenging. We also worked on improving conversation flow so the AI feels natural instead of robotic. Another challenge was balancing evaluation so it helps users improve without discouraging them.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We successfully built an AI system that doesn’t just chat but actually evaluates human communication. Nervo provides structured feedback that helps students improve real-world skills like interviews and speaking confidence.
What we learned
We learned how NLP can be applied beyond chatbots into real educational tools. We also learned how important feedback design is when building AI systems for learning.
What's next for Nervo
We plan to add voice-based interviews, grammar correction, and personalized learning paths. We also want to introduce different interview modes such as school, job, and scholarship interviews.
