Inspiration
Ihab's story as a deployed veteran suffering from PTSD, self-managing his care.
What it does
Our platform provides support for proactive self-management of PTSD triggers by mapping the environmental risk associated with your geographic location and personal case (symptoms, sensitivity, and usage).
How we built it
Built using a strong story, hackathon provided datasets, public data sets, and Claude Code.
Challenges we ran into
simplyfing the product to be user-friendly (non-triggering UI, less but better features, way to connect patient with provider in a useful and not too data intensive way), framing noise within the context of climate
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Working with over six mentors to bring in experience building or using something similar. Clinical experience, including those who work closely with hyper-sensitive patient groups, informed much of the use-cases and provider-facing features. Through our conversations and iterations with both providers and Ihab, we have conviction this product can serve PTSD patients in an real way.
What we learned
There are more 'invisible' veterans in the healthcare system than those using available resources. Climate extremities and emergencies are much more subjective to the individual user and should be more prevalent in the way we think about how climate factors in every day life.
What's next for NERVEana
Clinical and veteran validation, expansion of illnesses we're able to provide self-management care for, and integrating more technology for a more personalized experience.
