NerfLock

How I built it

Kinect based image recognition system. Uses Microsoft's open source Project Oxford to verify facial features in comparison to test subject. Uploads match boolean and comparison value to Firebase server. Based on positive or negative image comparison, will either lock a door or shoot a Nerf Gun Blaster at the approaching subject (hardware implemented by Intel Edison).

What's next for NerfLock

Fully integrate Facebook API to populate "verified" individuals set through JSON queries.

I worked on the facial recognition software using Project Oxford to compare realtime Kinect images to a preset file. Also created front end interface of informational website.

I worked on microsoft kinect recognition. When either user is approached or button is pressed, i screenshot the user with background removal to send photo file to azure blob storage for Project Oxford.

I worked on the Project Oxford API and making sure the windows server we created could connect with the firebase server and the azure server.

I designed and built the hardware with an Intel Edison and the Nerf gun. I pulled the data from firebase and pulled the triggers of the Nerf gun by using 2 servo motors and twine. I opened a door if the the picture is matching and shot 2 rounds of 3 bullets if it was a stranger. I also got the data of users with Facebook api.
