Inspiration
At a University in the heart of Seattle known for its social “freeze,” it can be hard to find peers and friends to study with. With our website, students can find others to work with through our matching algorithm that matches students based on their University, intended major or field of study, topic/class they want to study, their studying goals, and a short bio of who they are.
What it does
It matches students with each other based on their academic similarities. If our algorithm notices that two students have a lot in common, they will suggest them to each other as a "potential match" with their public bio/ information shown. The students will have an option if they want to study with them or not. If two students want to study with each other, they will appear in each other's "matches" page and have the option to message each other.
How we built it
We used Replit to collaborate on our code together. We made it using html and css.
Challenges we ran into
Our team had very little to no experience in web development. We had to learn everything through online YouTube tutorials and google.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud that we were able to make a functioning website together despite our minimal experience. We worked together on different aspects of the website and were eventually able to make it work.
What we learned
We learned html and css.
What's next for NerdFinder
