Inspiration
Tourists in Nepal often face scattered travel information, manual ticket booking, and difficulty discovering cultural events and hidden destinations. We wanted to create a single platform that makes exploring Nepal easier while promoting local communities and preserving cultural heritage.
What it does
Nepal Heritage is a smart tourism platform where users can explore heritage sites, book digital tickets, check live weather, discover Hidden Gems, and view upcoming festivals through a Cultural Calendar.
How we built it
We built the frontend using React, the backend using Node.js and Express.js, and used MongoDB as the database.
Challenges we ran into
We faced challenges in integrating payment gateways, designing a user-friendly interface, organizing tourism data, and creating a reliable verification process for Hidden Gems submissions.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We successfully developed a working tourism platform with digital ticket booking, Hidden Gems, a Cultural Calendar, verified tourism information, and secure payment integration in a short hackathon timeframe.
What we learned
We learned how to collaborate effectively as a team, integrate multiple technologies, solve real-world tourism problems, and build a user-focused solution under time constraints.
What's next for Nepal Heritage
We plan to add AI-powered travel recommendations, live crowd prediction, multilingual support, a verified marketplace for local guides, and partnerships with heritage authorities to expand the platform across Nepal.
