Neo Jibaros is inspired by the Puerto Rican culture. We wanted to create a new kind of NFT Generative Series that we called the "Culturally Influenced Generative Series". What it does
Neo Jibaros mints a unique NFT character based on traits that are very representative of Puerto Rican culture, the rarities were carefully analyzed in order to make unique combinations that will appeal to people of all generations.
How we built it
We decided upon Polygon because it is one of the most robust alternatives to Ethereum, the fact that Open Sea was available right off the bat also pushed us in that direction. We basically forked the hash lips contract and made some modifications in order to represent special items and styles adequately.
Challenges we ran into
The main challenge was having the contract approve WETH for the minting of the Neo Jibaros, currently we could not find any FIAT to MATIC onboarding. Opensea allows users to buy WETH so we figured that pricing in WETH made sense. Furthermore many NFTs are priced in ETH and Open Sea does not currently allow for Matic purchases.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Having a working product ready in a weekend when we didnt even know who our second artist would be was probably the greatest accomplishment of them all.
What we learned
Patience and teamwork goes a long way, we got stressed and the artists felt that their hand was going to fall, but they pulled through and we were able to build an amazing product together.
What's next for Neo Jibaros
Moving the wallet to a multisig, adding payouts to the artists that participated in our team and the launch of our off-chain governance using snapshot, we already have socials ready and the collabland bot will verify who has the NFT in order to get access to private channels.
