Inspiration
Initially, we wanted to create chess pieces that are more relatable to NUS students. We first thought of the NUS mascots. Then, we noticed that many students are attracted by cats, especially the white cat in UTOWN. Thus we decided to create a dual-player cat-themed chess game, which fosters greater bond among students.
How I built it
The game is built with the Unity game engine.
Challenges we ran into
As we had zero experience working with Unity and using C# previously, it is challenging for us to learn and produce this game within 24 hours. The fun part of the game is creating different versions of the chess pieces using MagiaVoxel.
Accomplishments that We're proud of
Making the game functioning and the creation of the chess figures.
What we learned
Basic Unity skills + 3D modelling + C# + OOP
What's next for Neko Chesu
Add more interesting game rules and change the chessboard theme system
