Inspiration

Public trust in government(Currently at 17% in the U.S.) and national consensus(Several data shows that with the exception of Scandinavian countries and Germany most developed and developing countries are becoming increasingly polarized) are arguably two of the most pressing sociopolitical problems in our world. And, the problem with large scale solutions is that they often don't account for the diversity and circumstances of a specific community. So, I tried to think of a means to increase communication between individual neighbors within a neighborhood to nurture a sense of community at each locality. Neighborly is the hack version of my idea. While it only features four cities and only two clubs, it has the spirit of my idea(or so I flatter myself :-)).

What it does

It strengthens community bonds through clubs and movements in an attempt to create national consensus and citizens who have a more active role in public life.

How I built it

HTML,CSS and Bootstrap

Challenges I ran into

I had to learn bootstrap during the hackathon, so that was pretty challenging and fun. Also, making the website adaptive for mobile and tablet devices was also quite the test.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I featured movements I believed in, including an initiative to build a green area in my hometown.

What I learned

I learned Bootstrap, Github Pages, and improved my skills in making mobile-friendly websites.

What's next for Neighbourly

I certainly intend on adding many more movements, clubs and neighborhoods to make it a truly global(or is it local?) effort.
