Inspiration

The health care team at a Long Term Care (LTC) Facility is having a hard time communicating the general heath of their residents. With so many PSWs and Nurses, and different shifts, it can be hard to get a big picture of how any one resident has been doing. It can also get very difficult to communicate important health updates for a resident. What they need is a solution that will help them capture, and amalgamate simple updates into a higher level detail of a resident as it relates to their health.

What it does

The Health Care Team is already equipped with tablets and so we are proposing providing them a solution where regular feedback is provided in an app for areas such as nutrition, activity, hydration, repositioning, isolation, and hygiene. This data is recorded and amalgamated to provide a dashboard level view of a resident. Such information would be helpful at a glance to know if a resident is meeting acceptable thresholds.

And lastly, there would be a simple reporting system that allows for important information of a resident to be front and center. Anyone from the Health Care Team can submit one of such “noted incidents”, but only a nurse can clear them.

How we built it

First of all we built our prototypes using figma, since it's one of the best platform for making UIs, after we were satisfied with our final prototypes, we built web version of our app using HTML, CSS and JS, we also used airtable for hosting our stuff, then we used repl.it to host the working model. For iOs version, we used Swift for coding it out.

Challenges we ran into

We kept running into issues of how to fetch, store data using the Airtable API. We also went though some tutorials to fix these issues. Then, we switched to work on Figma to make the best possible prototype that can convey our proposed solution.

Accomplishments we are proud of

We are proud of our team because we didn't give up until the last minute, and we are proud of what we accomplished in the end.

What we learned

We learned about new trending technologies that can help us in building projects.

What's next for Neighbours-RMS

We hope to launch an app in the coming future for the LTC - Facility after adding backend services to the app.
