Inspiration

NeighborNudge was inspired by the growing issue of social isolation and the power of small, local acts of kindness to build stronger communities. We saw Reddit’s vibrant community as the perfect platform to gamify mutual aid, making it fun and impactful.

What it does

NeighborNudge lets users post micro-acts of support (e.g., grocery runs, snow shoveling) in a Reddit subreddit (r/NeighborNudge), earning Nudge Points for participation. A leaderboard tracks top contributors, fostering community connection through playful competition.

How we built it

We used Bolt.new for rapid React frontend development (task form, task list, leaderboard) and Reddit API integration via the Devvit template. Supabase handles user authentication and task/point storage. Netlify deploys the app for fast, scalable access.

Challenges we ran into

Syncing Reddit posts with Supabase data in real-time was tricky. Simplifying the point system for a 6-hour build and ensuring a smooth UI on mobile devices required quick pivots and minimalistic design choices.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We’re proud of creating a functional, engaging app in such a short span that combines Reddit’s community vibe with real-world impact. Successfully integrating Bolt.new, Supabase, and Reddit APIs while deploying on Netlify was a major win.

What we learned

We learned to leverage Bolt.new’s rapid prototyping for fast UI and API integration, mastered Reddit’s Devvit template for gamification, and honed Supabase for scalable data management under tight deadlines.

What's next for NeighborNudge

Next, we’ll add real-time notifications for task updates, integrate location-based task filtering, and explore monetization via RevenueCat for premium features like personalized nudges, scaling NeighborNudge to connect neighborhoods globally.
