Inspiration

Growing up in a poor neighborhood has negative effects on the child’s physical and mental conditions. Children living in a neighborhood which lacks quality air and water are prone to disease like, Asthma, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Typhoid, etc. It is therefore very essential to analyze a neighborhood to understand how his/her surroundings affect their health.

What it does

The project consists of a survey and, a analyzer to analyze the survey and predict the condition of the neighborhood. The survey consists of questions which covers every problem and its causes, that a neighborhood can have, for e.g., Road Problems, Water Problems, etc. It also consists of questions related to the health of the people living in the area. Based on the responses received, a report is created by the Analyzer.

We feel that a person should be asked relevant questions, which he/she knows about. To in cooperate this idea we have made the survey dynamic, i.e., it shows only those questions that are relevant, which saves the responder’s time, and which also helps us to get better data.

How we built it

Since it involves data, we thought of using Python, numpy and pandas library for the data analysis, Tkinter for the GUI and, matplotlib to show the graph.

Challenges we ran into

The challenges we ran into are :

  1. The prediction is all dependent on the basis of the survey, so we had to make the analysis in such a way that it could predict the results accurately.

  2. Since GUI in Tkinter takes a lot of time to make, that is one of our major challenges.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Our Analyzer is able to predict the condition of the neighborhood almost accurately and can also tell the what are the major problems that lead to the problems like Air Pollution, Water Problems, etc.

What's next for Neighborhood Analyzer

By knowing which neighborhood or locality will be affected the most during problems like, high air pollution or during a water crisis by knowing the environmental problems that affect a neighborhood. This will ensure that residents of these areas are provided maximum help during the crisis.

With a detailed report of the problems that a neighborhood has, generated by the program, the residents and local authorities are more informed about it. In this way, we ensure that people are more aware and informed about their surroundings.

We aim to make every neighborhood, comfortable and appealing which consists of all the necessary infrastructural facilities like water facilities, health facilities, etc.
