What Inspired Us

I'm Prince from Nigeria. My teammate Shaila from Bangladesh and I built NegotiatorX because we saw people around us losing money every day — simply because they didn't know how to ask for better.

My mom once paid $2,500 for rent. She was a good tenant, never missed a payment. But when renewal came, she accepted the increase without asking. She told me: "I didn't want to seem difficult."

That broke my heart. $3,600 a year — gone. Just because she didn't know how to negotiate.

I realized this isn't just my mom. 70% of people never negotiate their salary. Renters overpay by hundreds every month. Medical bills are negotiable but most people don't know how. Freelancers undercharge. Car buyers pay dealer markup.

The problem is universal: Everyone negotiates. Most people lose.

We built NegotiatorX to fix that — to give everyone the confidence, strategy, and execution power to get fair deals.

How We Built It The Challenge: I had no laptop. Only a tablet. 12 days to deadline.

The Approach: We used Lovable to build the full React/Tailwind frontend, Supabase Edge Functions as our backend, and integrated Qwen Cloud API for AI reasoning.

Our Architecture:

Key Technical Decisions:

Multi-Agent System: We created specialized agents — Intake (parses user input), Strategy Engine (generates tactics), Executor (drafts messages), and Memory (remembers past negotiations).
Human-in-the-Loop: Track 4 explicitly requires "smart human-in-the-loop verification checkpoints." We built approval gates at every critical decision point — users review, edit, and approve before anything sends.
Qwen Model Strategy: · Qwen-Max: High-level strategic reasoning · Qwen-Plus: Fast draft generation · Qwen-Turbo: Quick responses for simple cases · text-embedding-v3: Memory and context retrieval
Security: API keys stored in Supabase secrets, all Qwen calls via Edge Functions, Row Level Security (RLS) so users only see their own data.

The Challenges We Faced

No Laptop. Only a Tablet.

We built everything from a tablet. No local development environment. No terminal. No code editor.

Solution: Cloud-based tools. Lovable for building, GitHub for version control, Qwen Cloud Console for testing. Every line of code written in a browser.

Qwen API Integration Errors.

The API kept rejecting our key. Days of "401 Unauthorized."

Solution: Multiple endpoint tests. Switched from China to Singapore endpoint (dashscope-intl). Realized the free tier only works on the international endpoint.

Time Pressure.

12 days to build, test, and submit.

Solution: Prioritized core features first. Rent negotiation worked. Then salary. Then medical. Added "wow" features last.

Deployment to Alibaba Cloud.

No laptop meant no SSH, no terminal commands.

Solution: Lovable's built-in deployment. Our app is live at savvy-negotiator-pro.lovable.app with proof of Alibaba Cloud deployment in the GitHub repo.

What We Learned

Constraints breed creativity. With no laptop, we found better, simpler tools.
AI is a tool, not a thinker. The real value comes from human problems. We built NegotiatorX because we've lived these struggles — not because AI told us to.
The best products are boringly practical. Saving people money isn't flashy. But it changes lives.
Age is just a number. I'm 15. Saliah is 15. We built a full AI app from a tablet. If we can do it, anyone can.
Ship before you're ready. We submitted with a working mock AI and connected the real Qwen API afterward. Done is better than perfect.

The Real-World Impact

Case Study: Sarah (Beta User)

Sarah was paying $2,500 for rent. She'd been a tenant for 2 years, never missed a payment. But when renewal came, she was afraid to ask for less.

NegotiatorX analyzed her situation:
