Neeley Advising: plans you can trust, answers you can check
TL;DR
The problem. Choosing a major and planning the road to graduation at TCU's Neeley School of Business means digging through a catalog, and one missed prerequisite can delay graduation by a semester.
Our approach. A planning engine, not the AI, does the math: prerequisites, missing information, policy limits and delays. The AI only explains what the engine returned, and every academic claim carries a source and date.
What we built. A site for prospective and current students with a plan view, a major comparison, and a chat and voice assistant. Anything that needs an official decision goes to a real advisor with a summary, so the student doesn't start over.
Honest limits. Plans are drafts no advisor has reviewed. "Typically offered" courses are never promised, and nothing here changes an official record or promises a job, salary or admission.
Who it's for
- Prospective students: "Explore Neeley" and "Compare majors" help them see which paths fit and what each one leads to.
- Current students: they load a transcript, or use the sample student, and see what's left, what could delay them, and what their options are. ## How it works
- The planning engine builds a semester-by-semester plan from the TCU Undergraduate 2026-2027 Catalog.
- Three checks run before a student sees it: prerequisites, missing information, and policy limits or delay risks.
- The assistant explains the result in plain language through chat or a voice call. A verifier checks each reply against the engine's output and rewrites it if it can't back it up.
- Decisions that need approval are packaged for a human advisor.
