Inspiration
Cecilia and Antonio were donating food to people in Berkeley when we came across an encampment. We met with someone that protecting an encampment and they said that there was a pizza place that occasionally delivered some extra food to the encampment. That's when the idea came up to have a food delivery app for restaurants to safely deliver food to designated areas.
What it does
What it currently does is that people order food from a restaurant and the driver delivers it to the to
How I built it
Cecilia was in charge of the design. She created mood boards, followed the limitations that the developer had, and created the logo. I (Antonio) had to build the web server to hold the information for restaurants, drivers, and "customers". I used django for the administration control. I also coded the xml and the Java Code for the Drivers and Customers.
Challenges I ran into
Dependencies and versions. There were a lot of times that I tried to use the latest version of something (like Django or Picasso), but I kept getting errors.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I (Antonio) am proud to have been able to get a server running using Python and that the data shows up for restaurants and and drivers, and that the Google Maps fragments are working.
What I learned
I learned about fragments, dependencies, and methods in Android. I also learned that you must use the correct versions of dependencies, files, and methods in order to get things to work.
What's next for Needy Delivery
Needy Delivery will be published on the Google Play store by the end of the month.
