🚗 Inspiration
The idea for this project was sparked by observing the fragmented and outdated systems used by local car part dealers and modification workshops in India. Most businesses relied on manual registers or generic POS software that didn’t address their unique needs—especially inventory by car model, integrated supplier networks, or the growing demand for custom modifications. Our vision: empower these businesses with a modern, desktop-first platform that streamlines every aspect of their operations while embracing India’s digital transformation.
🔎 What I Learned
Throughout the journey, I gained deep insights into: • Automotive retail operations and the specific workflows of car part dealers. • GST and Indian business requirements for billing, subscriptions, and compliance. • The importance of user-centric design for non-technical staff in busy workshops.
🏗️ How I Built the Project • Tech Stack: Node.js + Express backend, PostgreSQL DB (with Sequelize ORM), React desktop-first frontend. • Modular API design: Clean separation for inventory, sales, customers, suppliers, and marketplace modules. • Authentication & Roles: Secure JWT-based login, admin dashboard for SaaS features. • Supplier Marketplace: Built a marketplace module connecting workshops to verified suppliers. • Excel Uploads: Enabled bulk inventory updates for rapid onboarding. • Streamlined Sales Flow: Designed intuitive screens for easy customer lookup, vehicle management, and fast billing.
🚧 Challenges Faced • Complex Indian compliance (GST, multi-tax, subscriptions) needed custom solutions. • Creating a marketplace that balanced supplier visibility with dealer needs. • Ensuring seamless bulk uploads without data inconsistencies. • Designing for desktop-first but with mobile compatibility.

This project not only deepened my technical expertise but also helped me appreciate the power of focused, local solutions in driving real business impact.
