Inspiration

We were inspired by the potential of blockchain technology to revolutionize education. We wanted to create a platform that would make learning fun, engaging, and rewarding. By combining the power of NEAR Protocol with gamification, we aimed to create a new paradigm for education, where achievements are tangible and learning is immersive. Gamification transforms education by moving beyond traditional structures, turning learning into an interactive, game-like experience that encourages motivation and engagement.

What it does

NearGami is a gamified e-learning platform powered by the NEAR Protocol. It offers a variety of courses, from blockchain basics to advanced web development. Users can earn rewards for completing courses, participating in challenges, and contributing to the community. With gamification, users can transform their earned points into building a virtual city, providing a tangible representation of their learning journey and achievements. This city-building aspect distinguishes NearGami from typical e-learning platforms by encouraging users to visualize their progress and achievements in a unique, creative way.

How we built it

Our platform is built with a frontend application developed using React, providing users with an intuitive and responsive interface. The backend is powered by Node.js with Express, ensuring robust and efficient handling of data and user interactions.

The service deeply integrates with the NEAR Protocol for three main functionalities:

Secure Authentication: Users utilize their NEAR wallet to log in to the service, removing the necessity for traditional identifiers such as email or phone numbers, unless optionally shared by the user or teacher for additional communication.
Transparent Course Ratings: Ratings for courses are stored on-chain to offer reliable and transparent feedback, leveraging blockchain's inherent trust and immutability.
Monetization of Points: Users can claim their earned points on-chain, allowing them to transfer or utilize them beyond our website, promoting a broader ecosystem engagement.

Challenges we ran into

User Experience: Designing a seamless and engaging user experience was challenging, especially given the technical nature of blockchain.
Security: Ensuring the security of user data and assets on the blockchain was a top priority.
Innovative Development in a Limited Time: Successfully incorporating gamification demanded thoughtful iteration and innovation in a short timeframe.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Innovative Platform: We successfully created a unique gamified e-learning platform that leverages blockchain technology.
Engaging User Experience: We designed a user-friendly interface that makes learning fun and interactive. Users are motivated to learn through the integration of city-building activities based on point accumulation, keeping the learning process dynamic and incentive-driven.
Production-Ready Service in a Short Time: We achieved significant progress in developing a functional website during the Hackathon's limited timeframe. While there are always large and deep areas to revisit, the accomplishment is very encouraging.

What's next for NearGami

Expanding Course Offerings: We plan to expand our course catalog to cover a wider range of topics.
Advanced Gamification: We will introduce more advanced gamification features, such as leaderboards, badges, and additional virtual city elements, allowing users to compete and collaborate in an enriched learning environment. Users can invest their points in their city to earn more points, paralleling how knowledge and experience have increased value when continuously maintained.
Telegram Mini-App: We are in the process of enabling our service to be provided as a Telegram Mini-App. This requires some refinements to work with HOT wallet, which we are currently finalizing.
Community Building: We are focused on fostering a vibrant community of learners and educators to support and inspire each other.
Localization: We plan to localize our courses in multiple languages to reach a global audience, breaking down language barriers and making our innovative education platform accessible worldwide.
Enhancing Security: We will continuously review the code to ensure the service is thoroughly protected and secure.
Partnerships: We aim to partner with companies focused on NEAR Protocol and blockchain-agnostic technologies, enhancing our educational content and connecting users to real-world tech applications, while providing financial rewards through grants and airdrops.
Startup Development: Our ambition is to evolve NearGami into a startup. By applying to the NEAR Horizon accelerator, we seek to accelerate our development through funding and mentorship, creating opportunities for learners to gain skills in NEAR and blockchain-agnostic subjects while attracting companies interested in training and hiring skilled individuals.
