NearFi Cash is a transformative lending protocol on the Aurora blockchain, offering a seamless borrowing experience with Ethereum as collateral.

Inspiration

NearFi was conceived out of a vision to simplify the borrowing process in the decentralized finance (DeFi) space. Our inspiration came from the common financial bottlenecks users face when attempting to obtain loans. We recognized the potential of the NEAR blockchain for its speed and scalability and decided to leverage these features to create a more fluid borrowing experience.

What We Learned

Throughout the development of NearFi, our team has gained immense knowledge in several key areas:

  • Smart Contract Development: Crafting secure and efficient smart contracts with Aurora.
  • User Experience: Understanding the importance of a straightforward and enjoyable user interface.
  • Risk Management: Implementing effective strategies to manage the inherent risks of lending and borrowing in DeFi.

How We Built It

NearFi was built using a combination of Solidity for smart contract development, React for our front-end interface, and Aurora to connect NEAR with Solidity. Our protocol integrates:

  • Automated Valuation Models (AVM) to provide real-time collateral valuations.
  • Dynamic Interest Rates that adjust based on market conditions to benefit both lenders and borrowers.

Challenges We Faced

The road to launching NearFi was not without its obstacles:

  • Security: Ensuring the absolute security of the smart contracts to prevent exploits was our top priority and challenge.
  • User Adoption: Convincing users to try a new platform in a market with established competitors.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Navigating the complex legal landscape of DeFi to ensure that our protocol adheres to global regulations.

Despite these challenges, our passion for DeFi and commitment to the NEAR community drove us forward. NearFi stands today as a testament to our belief in the power of blockchain to revolutionize finance.
