Inspiration

After the first Metabuild hackathon, first DAOs testing and talking with teams at Nearcon, we realised the importance of making NearDAO tooling not just easy-to-use, but also modular, NEAR-connected and efficient-to-use. Ultimately we started to see the need for an open DAO platform with DAO Workflows and features Marketplace to grow with the speed and needs of the always developing NEAR ecosystem.

What it does

NearDAO is to become a fully open-source, broadly distributed, community-owned platform for launching, growing and long-term development of DAOs.

At the moment it enables teams to: 1) Launch their own tokenised DAO 2) Vote on and upload eg. the DAO Constitution document on IPFS 3) Conduct several other core DAO functions such as: Add member; Add bounty; Pay out/Receive tokens and soon more 4) For the first time, gives DAO teams an important access to early token liquidity by enabling them to add their DAO tokens to Skyward Finance by an integrated DAO action (Ref.Finance coming next!) 5) For the first time on NEAR it is introducing the concept of "Workflows" which learns to communicate with the NEAR ecosystem without the need of programming. Workflows secure DAOs by checking permissions on the smart contract-level, manages the flows of executed actions and checks all user inputs. Once approved, actions are executed based on the process defined in Workflows. 6) For the first time is introducing the DAO features "Marketplace" - an open space where anybody can submit and monetize any DAO modules, features and addons they deem fit for the development of DAOs on NEAR - currently in a a very early version, but this together with Workflows is a feature we'd like to focus on a lot going forward from here.

How we built it

We started with a goal of user-friendliness, open-source interconnectivity and growth in mind and are reverse-designing and engineering from there...

Challenges we ran into

Designing something new in NEAR blockchain space without an ability to get inspired elsewhere.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Ability to decisively act on our beliefs of what is best for DAOs acceleration on NEAR (still yet to validate)

What we learned

After the first and now second hackathon, we have much better understanding of how to develop applications on NEAR and our team of five (soon six!) hackers is picking up a pretty good rhythm and speed.

What's next for NearDAO

Q1 2022 1) Launch the final v.1 of NearDAO “Workflows” and "Marketplace" on Testnet 2) Finish all other programing for the NEAR Core and official 3rd party AUDITS (by the end of March 2022) 3) Launch on Mainnet!

Q2 2022 1) Finalise hiring of another Product Owner/Designer and Community Manager/Whip 2) Strengthen our coms/marketing game - Medium, Twitter and Discord 3) Finalise the Czech version of NearDAO.com on Podilnik.cz 4) Launch first self-funded DAO NGO, eg. CzechDAO to help develop and onboard real projects in Czech Republic 5) Focus on helping global teams launch, develop and monetize their own DAOs and DAO features through Marketplace 6) Develop a system for automation of auditing of DAO Marketplace workflows and features
