Inspiration

The inspiration for Near Dapp Review came from the need for a trustworthy platform that provides users with reliable reviews and ratings of dApps and blockchain-based businesses, similar to how Trustpilot operates in the traditional business space. Blockchain is a decentralized ecosystem, yet it lacks a standardized method for ensuring transparency and accountability. This dApp fills that gap, allowing users to make informed decisions about which projects and services to engage with.

What it does

Near Dapp Review allows businesses and decentralized applications to create profiles on the Near blockchain, where users can rate and review their experiences. It provides a decentralized feedback mechanism that builds trust within the blockchain ecosystem by offering unbiased insights into the performance and reputation of dApps and businesses. Users can check reviews before engaging with services, ensuring they interact with reputable entities.

How we built it

We built Near Dapp Review on the Near blockchain, leveraging smart contracts to create profiles, manage reviews, and record ratings in an immutable, decentralized manner. The smart contracts ensure the integrity of the feedback system, allowing only genuine reviews and ratings from verified blockchain users. We used the wallet connect provided by the near blockchain for wallet integration, enabling secure interaction with the dApp, and employed near-js sdk for smart contract development.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was ensuring that only verified users could leave reviews, which required careful integration with blockchain verification systems. Another challenge was creating a seamless user experience, as blockchain-based applications often have a higher technical barrier to entry. We also encountered scalability concerns due to the number of potential profiles and reviews to manage in a decentralized environment.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud to have built a transparent and trustworthy platform that addresses a significant need within the Near ecosystem. Successfully integrating a decentralized review mechanism, ensuring user authenticity, and maintaining the security of the platform were major achievements. The platform enhances trust between users and businesses, and we’re excited about the value it brings to the community.

What we learned

Throughout this project, we learned a great deal about the complexities of building a decentralized feedback system, particularly in terms of user verification and interaction within the Near ecosystem. We also gained valuable insights into the importance of designing intuitive interfaces for blockchain-based applications to ensure they are accessible to users with varying levels of technical expertise.

What's next for Near-dapp-review

In the future, we plan to introduce a Top Reviewer Program, where top contributors will be rewarded for their high-quality reviews. We also aim to expand the platform by onboarding more businesses and dApps across various blockchains, ensuring users have access to a wide array of reviews. Furthermore, we’ll continue to refine the user experience, making the platform even more accessible and impactful for the blockchain community.
