Introduction
Introducing.. NEAR CHAT
The first, NEAR native, wallet to wallet messaging application where users can send fully encrypted messages to another NEAR Wallet and whitelist specific addresses.
As the world transitions towards a Web3 future, it is now more important than ever, to help these globalized communities better coordinate their interactions on-chain.
We believe NEAR CHAT is core infrastructure to help grow the entire NEAR Ecosystem, in particular, cutting down friction for NFT sales and fostering peer to peer interactions.
Within the NEAR CHAT application, users have the following benefits:
- Send and receive messages from any NEAR Wallet
- Whitelist specific addresses to prevent spam
- Block messages from specific addresses
- News feed with local NFT wallet activity to create a “social” atmosphere
How it works?
In order to access our messaging platform, users must deposit 1 NEAR to cover storage fees; this amount allows users to send up to 100 KB of messages stored on-chain.
Once storage has been funded, users have the ability to send messages to any NEAR wallet and maintain a record of this conversation fully encrypted on the NEAR Protocol blockchain.
Right now, we are limiting messages to text only but in our paid model, we will allow users to send text, voice, image, audio or a combination as an on-chain message.
Business Model
Any and all NEAR Wallet users can access NEAR CHAT as long as they deposit the 1 NEAR to cover storage fees for the messages stored on-chain.
In order to create a sustainable revenue model, we will be offering two different tiers to help incentivize transaction revenue and distinctions between our product services.
The free tier includes the following permissions:
- Send and receive text messages from any NEAR Wallet
- News feed with NFT wallet activity to create a “social” atmosphere
The paid tier includes all the permissions above as well as:
- Send and receive text, audio, and video messages from any NEAR wallet
- Block messages from specific addresses
- Customizable user profile (profile picture and bio)
- Ability to whitelist specific addresses to prevent spam
- Ability to tip another user within the web application
- Ability to react to another user’s message
- Ability to unsend messages
- Push notifications
Future Plans
Following the hackathon, we will purchase the host domain, set up an official website and begin to offer the initial free version as a mobile and web application.
We will integrate the remaining functionality for the paid version and begin with an active marketing plan, implementing the social and gamification elements.
