Near-chan

Inspiration

Our inspiration was to create a hands-free AI assistant to streamline NEAR-related tasks. However, due to certain constraints, we integrated it with NEAR Hub as the frontend.

What it does

The AI assistant simplifies interactions with the NEAR blockchain by allowing users to obtain testnet tokens, perform transactions, and check their balance. Additionally, it serves as an educational tool to help users learn more about the NEAR protocol.

How we built it

We developed the AI assistant using the py-near SDK alongside near-cli for blockchain interactions. For the frontend, we utilized Next.js to ensure a seamless user experience.

Challenges we ran into

Throughout development, we encountered multiple challenges, including unstable SDK behavior and insufficient documentation. Additionally, community support on Discord and Telegram was minimal, making troubleshooting more difficult.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Despite these challenges, we successfully built an AI assistant capable of executing transactions, acquiring testnet tokens for developers, and providing insights into the NEAR ecosystem.

What we learned

This project deepened our understanding of the NEAR blockchain and its ecosystem, improved our proficiency with NEAR SDKs, and enhanced our ability to develop AI-driven agents.

What's next for Near-chan

We plan to expand Near-chan’s capabilities by adding support for minting NFTs and FTs, introducing interactive gameplay features, and exploring additional enhancements to improve user experience.
