Inspiration
Every day, small businesses launch with big dreams but quickly find themselves invisible online. Without a budget for digital ads, SEO, or influencer marketing, their products stay hidden. They don’t lack quality or passion they simply don’t get seen.
At the same time, people often walk right past these shops or search for products online, never realizing a nearby store has exactly what they need.
NearCart was created to bridge this gap.
It’s a platform that helps people discover local shops and individual sellers nearby, especially those who are just starting and struggling to get noticed online. With real-time location technology, NearCart connects users with businesses and second-hand sellers around them—no ads, no shipping delays, just instant, hyperlocal discovery.
By surfacing what’s already around us, NearCart not only helps consumers find what they need faster, but also encourages them to support local businesses, strengthen community connections, and give new shops a better chance at survival.
It’s about putting small sellers on the map—literally.
What it does
NearCart is a location-powered discovery app that helps users find products around them in real time. Here’s what it does:
(i) Lets users search for any product.
(ii) Displays nearby stores or individual sellers that offer it.
(iii) Shows shop or seller profiles, images, pricing, and distance.
(iv) Provides built-in navigation to guide users right to the store.
Also shows nearby shops even without a specific search—like a local marketplace map
How I built it
I built NearCart using Bolt AI. The entire app, from user interface to product search logic to geolocation features, was generated through AI-driven prompt engineering. My only manual input involved pasting a few API keys for map and database services.
This project showcases how powerful and accessible AI tooling has become: transforming a solo idea into a working MVP without needing a developer team or engineering background.
Challenges I ran into
(i)One of the biggest challenges was frontend prompting—it required step-by-step instructions for nearly every UI component to ensure the design matched the vision. I also faced technical issues with:
(ii) Navigation maps integration and accuracy
(iii) Authentication setup using external services
(iv) Some component functionalities not behaving as expected on the first try
These challenges tested my problem-solving skills and my ability to iterate quickly using AI prompts.
Accomplishments that I am proud of
Built a fully functional app without writing a single line of code
Successfully implemented a real-time inventory feature to improve user experience
Most importantly, I'm proud of creating something that can empower local businesses and bring visibility to sellers who often go unnoticed
What I learned
The first thing I learned was patience—prompting with AI requires careful, clear thinking
I gained hands-on experience building a real-time, location-based app using only AI tools
I learned how AI can be a revolutionary force in app development, especially for solo builders and non-coders
This project proved to me that great products can be built faster, smarter, and more independently than ever before
What's next for Near cart
Focus on enhancing the user experience with better UI feedback, smoother navigation, and faster search
Add features to allow businesses to promote their shop listings or highlight deals
Introduce basic analytics so sellers can see views and interest on their products
Explore community-driven discovery features like trending items or shop recommendations
Start testing with real local sellers to refine the experience based on real-world feedback
