Education is limitless, but our tools often aren’t. Traditional note apps store words — they don’t think.
The inspiration behind NDX (NoteDox) came from wanting to build a digital companion that doesn’t just take notes, but understands, rewrites, and ideates with you.

In essence:

NDX bridges human creativity and artificial intelligence — transforming raw thought into structured, actionable clarity.

What it does

NDX (NoteDox) is an AI-powered note and ideation platform that reimagines how we think, write, and create.
It integrates Google’s Generative AI and Gemini models for advanced text understanding, generation, and structuring.

Key Capabilities:

  • AI Rewrite Modes: Instantly reformulate text (Formal, Concise, Simple, etc.)
  • Translation & Proofreading: Multilingual support with grammar correction
  • OMI (Multi-Persona Ideation): AI personas for research, startups, learning design, and software brainstorming
  • PrompSlide: Converts paragraphs into presentation-ready slides
  • Mind Map: Generates visual hierarchies from unstructured ideas

How we built it

NDX was built as a full-stack web application with a server-side AI architecture.

  • Frontend: Next.js and TailwindCSS for a modern, responsive interface
  • Backend: Node.js and Express to handle routing, authentication, and API communication
  • AI Core: Integrated Google Generative AI API and Gemini models for natural language understanding and creative generation
  • Visualization Layer: Custom JavaScript logic for generating hierarchical Mind Maps and slide structures in PrompSlide

Challenges we ran into

  • Handling API rate limits while maintaining smooth, real-time AI responses
  • Structuring multi-persona communication in OMI without overlapping context
  • Designing a unified interface that balances AI complexity with user simplicity
  • Ensuring consistent and accurate formatting in AI-generated outputs

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Successfully integrated Google’s Gemini AI for advanced rewriting and ideation
  • Built a seamless multi-persona AI system capable of handling structured brainstorming
  • Created a presentation generator and mind map builder from unstructured text
  • Developed a responsive and minimal interface optimized for learning and creation

What we learned

  • The importance of prompt engineering and response control when handling AI models
  • How to manage asynchronous API calls efficiently in a real-time editor
  • That designing for clarity and cognitive flow is just as critical as model accuracy
  • How powerful AI can be when used for educational productivity

What's next for NDX (NoteDox)
