🌟 Inspiration
The novel coronavirus has fundamentally shifted the way we shop, with 85% of Americans significantly increasing curbside pickup since the pandemic began.
NCR is the world's largest producer of POS systems for stores and small businesses. It's time to ideate a solution that meets the changing needs of shoppers.
❓ Addressing The Problems
- "Improve delivery and curbside pickup for NCR’s merchants and consumers" - An easy to use interface that facilitates communication and optimizes order picking is a win-win for everyone.
- "Help restaurants and grocery stores handle a surge in online orders" - The User Interface automatically sorts the orders by the amount of items and the pickup time.
- "Help consumers have germ free transactions?" - Curbside pickup inherently reduces germs. Some could argue this will be our new normal, making efficient pickup solutions even more important.

📌 Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Figuring out Figma: As someone who did some graphic design in high school, I never realized the industry changed like this until college. We're still using Adobe Illustrator for things like this!
Playing with Postman: Introduced to a whole new world of APIs, testing APIs with Postman, and an idea of RESTFUL/RUST and it in comparison to SOAP APIs (thanks to a quick explanation by someone at NCR)!
🔨 How I built it
- Figma and the NCR Design System to design and prototype the system
- Adobe Premiere Pro for putting together the introduction video
🚸 Challenges I ran into
When living by yourself you have to remember to eat during a remote hackathon :)
📆 What's next for NCR Order Picking
- There's a surprising amount of similarities between order picking in grocery stores and order picking in a warehouse. Last I checked, NCR is not in this multi-million dollar industry, yet their software has numerous cross-applicabilities simply based on inventory management. Could this prototype be applied in a new scenario?

- In the future, I'd like to work a bit more on the coding/technical part to put things into application. Leveraging the APIs in a way that is able to track the items would bring the functionality to completion.
