Inspiration

We dislike being the product. We want to make companies pay for our data.

What it does

We allow you to sell your social data directly to companies or organizations. Once you start posting on the site we will give you a even share of the profits that we get from selling your data. We will make money by taking 5 % off each transaction.

How we built it

We use pump.io to build out our social network. That will be all of the customer facing Facebook like social network. Pump.io . We also created the market application with django and flask. Redis is our database.

Challenges we ran into

We had issues integrating the Coinbase API. Also, modifying the pump.io framework to add bitcoin addresses. When we deployed the system we encountered issues deploying our DNS settings.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Working product in 2 days! That we were able to use the coinbase api to actually do a live transaction. Also all of the features we were able to ship with. Also that we were able to get a live filtering system.

What we learned

We learned how to integrate coinbase into a microservice using flask. We also learned more javascript and node. Redis was fun and easy to use. And we encrypt all databases at rest and in transit.

What's next for NCategory

We want to organically grow our user base and connect to companies and other organizations to make more effective reach for users. We want to integrate services like dApps such as Cryptokittens We want to use uPort as a shared identity system for making claims on the blockchain with etherium.
