Inspiration
The inspiration for this project comes from initially viewing the healthcare dataset and taking notice of the fact that it includes data from uninsured people. In my job, I work with many uninsured, Medicaid, and Medicare patients from special and underrepresented populations. The FQHC I work for is always trying to find ways to improve and expand care in the areas they serve, but they usually cross-reference data themselves by hand so I thought it could be easier to make a computer do that work instead. That's where we get the NC FQHC OI.
What it does
Using multiple relevant datasets, The NC FQHC OI is able to identify opportunities for Federally Qualified Health Centers to expand and improve the areas they care for.
How we built it
Using (good ol') Microsoft Excel and Word to outline the project idea, Google Colab, Python, and R. We were able to bring this idea to life.
Challenges we ran into
The challenges mainly revolved around ideation. Getting a dataset and being told to create a deliverable was definitely a new concept, but we were excited to execute it.
