Inspiration
We love sports and we also love data related to the sports betting market. We wanted to make a tool to make sense of the sometimes confusing data on betting websites.
What it does
We find data from multiple websites and use an algorithm we developed to find the best picks statistically.
How we built it
We used python to scrape data online and also use apis to read data. We also used python to compare the data from one website to another. We used flask to run our scripts on the backend of a web server that is locally hosted.
Challenges we ran into
Learning how to use flask was difficult, and also how to work with date time, because the data changes very frequently.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that we were able figure out how to run python through a web app.
What we learned
We learned how to use flask, and we also learned more ways to analyze data on python.
What's next for NBA Wizard
We hope to expand to more sports, and hopefully lessen the time constraints on the website. Because some of the websites we get data from don't update frequently, the data can get innacurate especially towards the end of the day.
