Inspiration
I remember when I was a kid I had all the limited edition cards of all basketball players saved in my notebook, Those times were good! I remember sharing and exchanging those cards for better ones. The idea for this app was to relieve the nostalgia we basketball fans had during our better years!
What it does
Our App provides Die hard basketball fans to collect cards of different basketball players Play mini games and earn different prizes such as Phones, Jerseys, Basketballs and a chance to meet their favourite players. A user can also get news updates about the basketball Arena.
How we built it
We built it using Android Studio and Used Figma for prototyping and UI/UX. For networking we used Volley Library.
Challenges we ran into
At the last moment, the API we used for the networking operations regarding the News section of the App expired! This was more difficult as this incident happened during the last 30 minutes of the hackathon. Our team quickly looked for and implemented a different API.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
This was the first time we implemented a Mini Game feature in our Android App and as avid Gamers we feel extremely proud that we have created some kind of game(even if its a side activity in our Android App XD)
What we learned
We learned Figma and Implemented material design principles of Android in our project. Learned to parse JSON code and implement it in our App. Knowledge about Android libraries like Volley, Glide etc
What's next for NBA Connect
We are thinking of making new improvements in our App and add a backend to it. After project completion we will be uploading this App to the Play Store.
