WE TURNED A RELATIONSHIP PROBLEM INTO A STARTUP - HERE'S HOW
For many couples — especially those in mid-term or long-term relationships — planning a date becomes more stressful than the date itself. The conversation always circles back to the same line: “So… what do you want to do?”
Neither partner wants to make the wrong choice, so the responsibility gets quietly pushed back and forth. Both want to enjoy something meaningful, but neither wants to plan it. Existing platforms only overwhelm the situation: Google Maps shows endless irrelevant places, TikTok gives scattered ideas, and blog lists feel generic and outdated.
Eventually, couples give up and repeat the same routine — not because they lack options, but because planning feels like pressure instead of joy. What they need is not more places, but a simple way to choose.
Solution Overview
NaviWay lifts this weight off couples’ shoulders. Instead of forcing them to decide everything themselves, the app turns date discovery into a guided, effortless, and even fun experience. Couples can filter what they truly feel in the moment — their mood, budget, and available time — and instantly see options tailored specifically for those needs.
Suggestions are shown on an interactive map, allowing users to explore ideas visually, tap on a card, and immediately see where it is. It transforms uncertainty into clarity within seconds.
For couples who prefer not to choose at all, NaviWay offers ready-made date plans: curated mini-itineraries that include a fun activity, a place to eat, and an intimate or cozy location to end the day. These plans give structure, flow, and ease — perfect for people who want a meaningful experience without planning effort.
NaviWay replaces stress with simplicity, and routine with discovery.
Technologies Used
The NaviWay MVP is built using:
- Lovable.dev for front-end assembly and rapid prototyping
- Mapbox GL JS for interactive maps and location visualization
- React-style components inside Lovable for maintainability
- Local JSON datasets for curated locations and plan details
- Client-side logic for filtering mood, budget, and time
- Clean UI design inspired by Canva-based visual guidelines
- Firecrawl for scraping online sources to gather, refine, and validate location information
Future Opportunities
NaviWay also holds strong potential for future expansion. After validating the concept in Vilnius, the app can scale to additional cities by expanding its curated location dataset while keeping the same filtering and map-based system. There is also an opportunity to establish partnerships with restaurants, museums, entertainment venues, and activity providers, enabling affiliate revenue, sponsored placements, and integrated bookings. Over time, NaviWay could introduce smart personalization, learning each couple’s habits and recommending experiences based on past dates, preferences, or seasonal trends. Social features could allow couples to share their favorite date ideas or explore trending activities within their city. The Memories feature could evolve into a dynamic relationship timeline with photo summaries or milestone reminders. Premium subscription tiers could unlock exclusive curated plans, unlimited memory storage, and AI-generated itineraries. Together, these opportunities position NaviWay to grow into a long-term companion that enriches how couples explore, connect, and build meaningful experiences.
Overall Vision
NaviWay exists to help young couples spend less time planning and more time experiencing. By bringing personalization, clarity, and emotional context into one place, the app transforms the difficult question of “What should we do?” into a quick, enjoyable discovery process.
What starts as a simple tool for choosing date ideas grows naturally into a companion that supports relationships, helps them evolve, and preserves the memories created along the way.
