Inspiration
Growing up in Nigeria, I loved computers but was terrified of maths. No mentor. No guidance. I sat for JAMB and failed maths.
I had to find someone willing to teach me from scratch. That one person changed everything. But most students never find that person.
That is why I built Naviiq. Every confused student deserves a guide that meets them where they are and shows them the way forward.
What it does
Naviiq is an AI career guidance agent that holds a natural conversation with students, understands their strengths and constraints, and recommends the right career path with a personalized learning roadmap.
For tech students it goes deeper, recommending exact stacks, tools to learn, and beginner projects to build.
No quizzes. No dropdowns. Just honest conversation like a real counselor.
How we built it
FastAPI backend, LangGraph agent framework, Qwen3.7-Plus on Qwen Cloud, MongoDB Atlas for state persistence, React and Vite frontend, deployed on Render.
All AI inference runs through Qwen3.7-Plus on Qwen Cloud, Alibaba Cloud's AI platform.
The agent uses a 6-stage state machine with context compression and infrastructure-aware recommendations built specifically for African students with power and data constraints.
Challenges
Designing an agent that reasons like a real counselor without producing generic results. Managing multi-turn conversation state without token explosion.
What we learned
How to build production-grade AI agents with LangGraph and Qwen Cloud that solve deeply personal African problems.
What is Next
Naviiq will expand beyond tech to cover every career path including medicine, law, business, and creative fields. Every African student deserves a guide.
