Inspiration
Our inspiration for this project stems from the hackathon's theme of natural disasters. As we delved into this topic, we asked ourselves a crucial question: How do Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) cope and seek assistance during a natural disaster? Our research revealed a sobering reality: PWDs face significant challenges and often struggle to access the help they need. This realization has driven us to develop a comprehensive app designed to bridge this gap and ensure no one is left behind.
What it does
Easy Help Requests With a simple double-tap or voice command, users can request immediate assistance.
Guided Navigation During a disaster, NavigAid offers two crucial options: users can either wait for a nearby guardian or utilize advanced LIDAR technology to navigate safely to meet them.
Real-Time Tracking and Updates Guardians can track their loved ones’ live locations and receive real-time updates on their surroundings, ensuring they stay informed and can respond swiftly.
Prioritized Rescue Assistance Rescuers utilize NavigAid’s user database to perform a risk assessment, prioritizing assistance based on real-time hazard data and user-specific needs.
Post-Disaster Support NavigAid doesn’t stop at rescue; it connects users to essential post-disaster resources tailored to their specific needs, ensuring comprehensive support.
