Inspiration

The autotranslate feature on the new airpods and snapchat maps for the hotspot feature inspired us to create something that could be more accessible to students with disabilites. Navigating London during peak hours can be challenging for disabled students. Physical barriers, such as stairs and inaccessible transport options, make commuting between student accommodation and university particularly difficult for wheelchair users and visually impaired individuals. By using our app they would be able to hopefully navigate with ease.

What it does

The app allows a user to navigate from their favourite spots in London to their Uni (For the MVP we have only done a small section). The user can pin down their most visited places and then talk to the AI Agent who will guide them across the most optimal and accessible path from Destination A to B.

How we built it

We split the project into 3 parts, one part focused on the frontend, the other section focused on the backend and the last part focused on the voice integration....

Challenges we ran into

One of our team members was ill and couldn't make the last day! And Google maps API is expensive, so we had to switch to a different service

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Creating snowflake python integration for the first time First time git lab user acing it!

What we learned

What's next for NavigAble

We'd love to add more universities from the navigable database to our app, and scrape information from indoor campus maps to allow indoor navigation.
