NatureMart strives to harness the transformative power of art to promote awareness, provoke dialogue, and inspire action. We seek to address issue of serious concern—conservation, deforestation, and other environmental issues.

What it does

The app consists of an e-commerce and storefront for buying and selling of minted NFTs on the ethereum blockchain. Through the NFTs and ArcGIS maps, citizens and buyers can find out more about wildlife and the threats they face in the wild. Charity organizations can monitor freshly planted trees for aforestation in urban areas and remote forests using IoT sensors and the ArcGIS maps. Art donors like artists, collectors help create and donate nature digital arts and the sales from the NFTs are mainly donated to support and address environmental issues.

How we built it

Shapefiles and ArcGIS maps have been used to provide education around threatened and endangered species. ArcGIS map was used to display tree locations for a trunk-to-tree charity organization.

The NFTs and their metadata are stored on the blockchain and IPFS while the CIRCLE platform APIs are used for the payments and settlements system. Payment transfer is done by transferring money from one wallet to another on the CIRCLE platform. Payments and payouts can also be made with other traditional methods like the credit cards, debit cards, ACH using various currencies including the US Dollar as well as cryptos such as Ethereum (ETH) and USD Coin.

I have used various technologies and tools such as ethereum, solidity, node javascript, IPFS, CIRCLE apis, postgresql, metamask accounts and vuejs to build the solution.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Translating the idea into a working prototype.

What we learned

I learned a lot about environmental issues,GIS, ArcGIS, blockchain and cryptocurrencies.
