Inspiration

The team wanted to contribute to solving a real life challenge facing the Australian society. We found that Australia loses around $60 billion dollars in wellness costs every year, and we felt inspired to do something about it. Thus, we came up with the concept of Nature Shuttle, to promote health and wellness among the senior citizens of the country. In our process, we saw the potential of the chamber being able to remove stress and connect with different natural surroundings and its associated sensory experiences and that the concept could be expanded for any working professional or a student facing stressful days at work or study. Thus our idea took shape and we continued to work on a futuristic and ambient design.

What it does

The Nature Shuttle looks like a futuristic sleeping chamber for a single person from outside. Once a person goes inside, s/he would be lying in an ergonomic and comfortable position, while the pod closes and warm water fills up the pod up to the neck with Himalayan salt injected in the water stream.

The inside chamber is fitted with LED screens all around with speakers. Users can choose the location, time of day and the type of fragrance they want to be in during the session. The entire experience will give them a sensory and visual experience of relaxing in that surrounding filled with healing water. These experiences will improve both their body and mind.

How we built it

We initially plan to collaborate with IT, Architecture and Electric companies to design the pod and partner with UTAS to research on consumer behavior and preferences about the pods dimensions, structure and surrounding interior. We also plan to partner with UTAS to study the impact of body, health and productivity through exposure to the chamber.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into a few challenges regarding getting the design right. Initial designs looked like a coffin, which was hilarious. Then we designed the pod more like a boat. The portability of the pods was a challenge, for which we first decided to own a initial store, and in the future we could franchise the service to hotels and health centers. The magnitude of the investment which is around $350,000 was perceived to be too high. However, our estimates show a 400% return on each pod and a payback period of 2 years which makes it a lucrative investment

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of being able to design a unique product which has only indirect competitors, and can solve productivity issues in organizations and promote wellness among stressed and senior citizens We are also proud of having a brick and mortar concept equipped with technology and a plan that can result in real profit for investors

What we learned

-Our personal skills in IT, Finance, Business Management, Photography, Acting, Video editing have been immensely improved -We also improved our soft skills in team work, leadership, idea sharing, public speaking and problem solving and decision making

What's next for Nature shuttle

We plan to franchise the idea and have Nature Shuttles in different hotels, health centers and gyms. We also want the concept to be in people's homes, if a cheaper manufacturing process can be discovered in the future.
