Inspiration
Nature Run was inspired by Chrome offline Dino game. I wanted to combine the thrill of a running game with the beauty and diversity of natural landscapes, aiming to provide both entertainment and a subtle message about the importance of environmental conservation.
What it does
Nature Run is an endless runner game where players navigate through various natural environments, such as forests, mountains, and rivers. The objective is to collect points, avoid obstacles, and survive as long as possible. Along the way, players can unlock new characters and power-ups that enhance their abilities. The game also includes educational tidbits about different ecosystems and wildlife, subtly promoting awareness about nature.
How I built it
Nature Run was developed using the Unity engine, leveraging its powerful tools for 2D and 3D game development. The game mechanics were programmed in C#, ensuring smooth and responsive controls. For the visual elements, I used Internet, and Photoshop for UI design. Sound effects and background music were sourced from Unity libraries and integrated to enhance the immersive experience.
Challenges I ran into
One of the main challenges was optimizing the game for different devices and screen sizes, ensuring a consistent and enjoyable experience across all platforms & faced lot of issues with colliders. Balancing the difficulty level to keep players engaged without becoming frustrated was another significant hurdle. Additionally, integrating educational content in a way that felt natural and unobtrusive required careful design and testing.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I am proud of successfully launching Nature Run on the Play Store and receiving positive feedback from players. The game has been praised for its beautiful graphics, smooth gameplay, and educational value. Achieving a balanced difficulty curve and creating a game that is both fun and informative are accomplishments I hold in high regard.
What I learned
Developing Nature Run taught me valuable lessons in game design, particularly in creating engaging and balanced gameplay. I gained deeper insights into optimizing performance for mobile devices and the importance of user feedback in iterative development. The experience also enhanced my skills in art and sound integration, crucial for creating an immersive gaming experience.
What's next for Nature Run, A game developed by me & Live on Play Store.
Moving forward, I plan to introduce new features to Nature Run, such as additional environments, characters, and power-ups. I am also exploring the possibility of adding multiplayer modes, allowing players to compete with friends or others globally. Continuous updates with seasonal themes and special events are in the pipeline to keep the game fresh and engaging for existing and new players. Also I am working on another Multiplayer shooting game which is currently under development.
